How to Install SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2

Follow these steps to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

To install SQL Server 2005 SP2

  1. Verify that the computer that is running SQL Server is on. If your deployment involves clustered computers that are running SQL Server, verify that both computers that are running SQL Server are on.

  2. In Internet Explorer, visit the SQL Server 2005 SP2 download page at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=8701.

  3. Follow the instructions to download the version of SQL Server that meets your business needs.

  4. Cick Close when the download is completed.

  5. Click Start, click Run, type Explorer, and then click OK.

  6. In Windows Explorer, locate the folder where you saved the service pack Setup file, and then double-click the Setup file.

  7. Follow the prompts to install SQL Server 2005 SP2.

  8. On the Authentication Mode page, select Windows Authentication, and then continue with the installation.

  9. After the installation is complete, restart the computer.
