Systems Management Server

Version 2.0

Purpose

In the Microsoft® Systems Management Server (SMS) SDK, the documentation and samples necessary to write client applications that access and modify SMS data can be found. The SMS documentation also shows you how to extend the SMS user interface and client inventory.

Where Applicable

You can create Web applications for the Internet or intranet, use Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) to create read-only applications, and use C/C++ to create COM-based management applications. You can also access SMS data using Microsoft® Visual Basic®, Visual Basic for Applications, or any scripting language that is compliant with Windows Script Host.

Developer Audience

This documentation is written primarily for C/C++ and Visual Basic developers.

Run-time Requirements

To use SMS, you must have access to Microsoft® Internet Explorer version 4.01 Service Pack 1 or later, as well as a development environment such as Microsoft® Visual C++® version 5.0, Service Pack 3 or later, or Visual Basic version 6.0 or later.
