Adding Applications to the More Programs Page

The following types of applications can be added to the More Programs page, which is linked from the Start page menu in Media Center:

  • Windows-based applications that run outside the Media Center process. When such an application is launched, the Media Center user interface is minimized.
  • Hosted HTML applications that run within the Media Center process.
  • Hosted .NET Framework assemblies, called add-ins, that run within the Media Center process. For more information, see Media Center Add-ins.

Note that when you add a shortcut to More Programs, a button for your program may sometimes appear in the Start page menu, but you cannot directly place it there for all of your users. The Start page menu displays buttons for only the two most recently used Windows-based or hosted HTML applications; when the user opens different applications from More Programs, the buttons for these applications appear in the Start page menu, displacing the previous ones.

The following topics describe how to add applications to More Programs.

Topic Description
Adding Windows-based Applications Describes how to add a Windows application to the Media Center More Programs page.
