Messaging and Security Feature Pack Overview
The Messaging and Security Feature Pack for Windows Mobile 5.0 enables OEMs and Operators to provide a direct push solution to Windows Mobile 5.0-based devices. The Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP) works with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2.
MSFP is a software upgrade that provides a mobile messaging solution that uses the management benefits of Exchange ActiveSync, which is a part of Exchange Server 2003, and new security policies on the Windows Mobile 5.0-based devices. Exchange Active Sync is an Exchange synchronization protocol that is designed for keeping the Exchange mailbox synchronized with a Windows Mobile 5.0-based device.
MSFP helps Enterprise administrators to better manage devices, and helps businesses improve mobile device security. It also allows the mobile information workers to stay connected to their Microsoft Outlook e-mail, corporate contacts, calendar, and task information.

Requirements
The following lists shows the MSFP requirements:
- Upgrade from Exchange Server 2003 to Exchange Server 2003 SP2.
- Direct synchronization with the Exchange Server. PC synchronization is needed only for Certificate-based Authentication, which requires a one-time connection to ActiveSync for certificate deployment and periodic connection at certificate renewal time.
- Users having some type of data connection (GPRS or desktop pass-through using ActiveSync 4.1) in order to use the GAL functionality.
