The following transaction scenarios are not supported:

  • Transactional NTFS does not support operations on encrypted file systems (EFS) files, with the exception of read operations.
  • Windows Vista does not currently support distributed transactions against remote file systems.
  • Windows Vista does not currently support transacted operations against files cached by client-side caching.
  • Windows Vista does not currently support file access using object IDs.
  • A resource manager cannot enlist in a transaction during P0.

Supported

The following transaction scenarios are supported:

  • You can copy or read files that are open for read access that also have no share write permissions from non-transacted volumes. For example, you can copy or read files within a transaction on CDs, DVDs, FAT volumes on USB devices, or remote file systems.
