Specifies a URL for the button to use as a browser destination for a shortcut.

Attributes

encoding

Format of any strings in the URL, especially the string retrieved by the {options} variable. The default is utf-8.

If the URL requires an encoding type that is not available on the user’s computer, the button stops the shortcut operation.

Remarks

Optional, but strongly recommended. Each <locale> element may have one <shortcuts> element. You may not want to use the <shortcuts> element if you set up a menu using a button window.

When the <shortcuts> element contains multiple <url> elements, the targets (for example, multiple Web pages) appear in a tabbed display. The page of the first URL listed opens in the current tab, followed by the remaining pages (in subsequent tabs).

If the user’s browser does not support tabs (or if Internet Explorer 7 tabs are turned off), the browser only opens the first result set URL.
