Associations Editor

Use this editor to set up new document types, MIME types, COM objects, and type libraries installed with your product. You can also set the associations between these elements, as well as between document types, extensions, and verbs.

You can open this editor by either:

  • Double-clicking Associations in the Target Machine node in the Project Explorer window.

    –or–

  • Selecting the Association option on the Project menu.

As you work in the Associations editor, you can add and associate document types, file extensions, verbs, and type libraries using either:

  • The context menu.

    Note   You can display the context menu by right-clicking in the Associations editor. Context menu activated options differ depending on what is selected when you right-click.

    –or–

  • Options on the Actions menu.

    Note   Actions menu active options differ depending on your current selection in the Associations editor.

Associations on Target Machine

A graphic representation of the document types, file extensions, verbs, MIME types, and type libraries your installed product works with.

Document Types

Add and delete document types in this node. You also add file extensions and verbs, as well as make associations among these three elements, in this node.

MIME Types

Add and delete MIME types in this node.

COM Objects

Add and delete COM objects in this node.

Type Libraries

Add and delete type libraries in this node.
