Creating Code Librarian Categories

This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release.

The Code Librarian uses categories and code item types to organize the code items in the Code Librarian Explorer. By creating a hierarchy of categories, you can make it easier to find specific code. The code item type option provides a means to visually organize your code by customizing the icon associated with the code item.

When you add new code to the library, you can associate it with a default category provided with the Code Librarian, or you can create a new category for the item.

To add a new category

  1. Open the Code Librarian. For details, see Opening the Code Librarian.
  2. In the Code Librarian Explorer, select the library node or category you want to create a new category under.
  3. From the Code Librarian menu, select Add, and then select New Category. The new category appears in the Code Librarian Explorer.
  4. Enter a name for your category by right-clicking on the category in the Code Librarian Explorer, selecting Rename, and then typing the new name.
