FrontPage Server Extensions are not essential to host FrontPage Web sites, but they do extend FrontPage Web sites with functionality such as multi-user and remote authoring support, search, forms processing, and usage analysis.

FrontPage Server Extensions 2002 is the last version of the FrontPage Server Extensions, and supports clients using FrontPage 2002 as well as previous versions. For best results, use FrontPage Server Extensions 2002 instead.

FrontPage Server Extensions can be installed on either Windows-based or UNIX-based Web servers. The following sections provide more information about FrontPage Server Extensions 2000 for Windows-based and UNIX-based Web servers.
