XmlTextReader..::.MoveToFirstAttribute Method

Moves to the first attribute.

Namespace:  System.Xml
Assembly:  System.Xml (in System.Xml.dll)
Visual Basic (Declaration)
Public Overrides Function MoveToFirstAttribute As Boolean
Visual Basic (Usage)
Dim instance As XmlTextReader
Dim returnValue As Boolean

returnValue = instance.MoveToFirstAttribute()
C#
public override bool MoveToFirstAttribute()
Visual C++
public:
virtual bool MoveToFirstAttribute() override
JScript
public override function MoveToFirstAttribute() : boolean

Return Value

Type: System..::.Boolean
true if an attribute exists (the reader moves to the first attribute); otherwise, false (the position of the reader does not change).
ft1tc0b7.alert_note(en-us,VS.90).gifNote:

In the .NET Framework version 2.0 release, the recommended practice is to create XmlReader instances using the XmlReader..::.Create method. This allows you to take full advantage of the new features introduced in this release. For more information, see Creating XML Readers.

The following example gets the value of the first attribute of the root node.

Imports System.IO
Imports System.Xml
