Administrator Console Security

This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release.

The Speech Server??Administrator console provides access to service control (which allows for starting, stopping, and pausing the Speech Server service), Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) settings and methods, and deployment information. You must be a member of the local Administrators user group to interactively use the Speech Server??Administrator console. If you are managing multiple computers running Speech Server, you must be a member of the local Administrators group for each of those computers as well. This can be achieved by having a domain account with local Administrator group membership or in a workgroup, by having separate administrative accounts on each computer with the same user name and password.

To maximize security, restrict logon access to the computer running Speech Server. For more information, see Using Minimal Administrative Accounts.
