Timely insight, seamless information sharing, and collaboration across all levels of workers are crucial to achieving consistent and profitable manufacturing operations with minimal interruptions and down time. Data collected from manufacturing plant operations plays a vital role in enabling real time operational monitoring, tactical planning, and strategic insight to support facts based mid-to-long term decision making.

This RAP contains a reference solution architecture and a sample application that illustrate how to build an Analytics OBA using the Microsoft Business Intelligence (BI) Platform. The Microsoft BI platform is comprised of a comprehensive set of servers, applications, and tools to support architecting and implementing rich BI solutions, including Microsoft Office 2007, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and Microsoft PerformancePoint Server 2007. The scenario is based on manufacturing plant floor operations in a fictitious Oil & Gas company.
