How to: Add Endpoints to Zones and Logical Servers

In Logical Datacenter Designer, you can add endpoints to zones and logical servers. Endpoints make it possible for you to define communication pathways between logical servers and zones. For more information, see Overview of Endpoints on Zones and Logical Servers.

Note

You can also add new endpoints when connecting zones and logical servers. For example, when you draw a connection from a zone or logical server endpoint, the complementary endpoint appears automatically. For more information, see How to: Connect Zones and Logical Servers.

To add an endpoint

  1. Select a logical server or zone.

  2. On the Diagram menu, point to Add, and choose an endpoint type.

    – or –

Drag a compatible endpoint type from the Toolbox to a logical server or zone.

The endpoint type you selected appears on the logical server or zone.

To name an endpoint

  • Select the endpoint label on the diagram and edit the name. If the endpoint label is not visible, right-click the endpoint, and choose Show Label.

    - or -

  • Select the endpoint on the diagram and edit the Name property in the Properties window. If the Properties window is not visible, open it from the View menu by choosing Properties Window.
