-W Option (Command Line)

Indicates if working copies are to be read/write or read-only. By default, when a file is not checked out, Visual SourceSafe makes your working copy read-only to remind you that it should not be altered. The Use_ReadOnly initialization variable in Ss.ini changes this default behavior.

The following table lists ways to use the -W option.

  • -W
    Sets working copies to read/write.
  • -W-
    Sets working copies to read-only.
