How to: View/Add/Remove Certificates (Devices)

This topic describes how to view, add, or remove certificates on a device or emulator with the Device Security Manager.

Note

Your computer might show different names or locations for some of the Visual Studio user interface elements in the following instructions. The Visual Studio edition that you have and the settings that you use determine these elements. For more information, see Visual Studio Settings.

To view and remove certificates

  1. On the Tools menu, click Connect to Device.

  2. Click a device in the Devices list and then click Connect.

  3. Wait for the device to connect.

  4. On the Tools menu, click Device Security Manager to start the Device Security Manager.

  5. Click Certificate Management.

  6. In the left pane, click the device you want to view.

  7. Click Refresh.

    The list of certificates appears in the right pane.

  8. To remove a certificate, click a certificate and then click Remove Certificate.

To add a certificate

  1. On the Tools menu, click Connect to Device.

  2. Click a device in the Devices list and then click Connect.

  3. Wait for the device to connect.

  4. On the Tools menu, click Device Security Manager to start the Device Security Manager.

  5. Click Certificate Management.

  6. In the left pane, click the device to which you want to add a certificate.

  7. Click Add Certificate.

    The Add Certificate dialog box appears.

  8. Click the certificate you want to add and then click OK.

Security

Placing a certificate in your device’s certificate store enables any application signed with that certificate's private key to execute on your device.
